Hi, I'm Stephan.

Stephan Eberle · Bad Oldesloe, Germany · info@mitia.app

I build Mitia on my own. There's no team behind it and no company with a growth department, just me and the list of things I wished a habit tracker would stop doing to me.

I've been writing code for most of my life. I got diagnosed with ADHD at 47. Late enough to have spent decades thinking I was just bad at being consistent.

Why another habit tracker

Most habit trackers count in ticks and streaks. You did it or you didn't. Miss one day and the streak is gone, and with it the feeling that the three weeks before counted for anything. For a brain that takes rejection hard, that red cross isn't neutral feedback. It's the reason to quietly delete the app.

Mitia counts differently. Each habit gets a value from 0 to 5, so a ten-minute walk is a 2 and not a failure. There's no streak to break. A day you forgot can be filled in later. And every sentence in the app is written to state what happened instead of grading it.

Mitia and DopaLoop

I also build DopaLoop, an ADHD habit tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch with goals, medication tracking and journaling. DopaLoop is the deep one. Mitia is the simple one: a list of habits, one tap to check in, iPhone and Android. If you need more one day, DopaLoop is there. If you don't, Mitia is enough.

Your habits stay with you

Mitia has no account and no cloud. Your habits and check-ins live on your device, and they're deleted with the app. I worked for more than nine years on a large platform with millions of user accounts, where data protection was daily work. What I took from that: the data that's safest is the data I never get.

Two things do leave your phone. If you buy Mitia Pro, the purchase runs through Apple or Google. And the app sends an anonymous count that it was opened, without knowing by whom or what's in it. The privacy policy has the details.

What Mitia is not

Mitia is not a medical product and doesn't replace diagnosis or treatment. It's a tool that tries not to get in your way.

I write about ADHD, shipping anxiety and building apps in my newsletter Launching in Pyjamas. More about me is on steviee.dev, and you'll also find me on GitHub and LinkedIn. If something in Mitia bugs you, write to info@mitia.app. It lands with me, there is no support team in between.
